Nisyan Olvido

Nisyan / Olvido is a project combining two visions about nostalgia in post-revolutionary Alexandria. Nostalgia seen as a veil that hides those plural realities that are not part official narrative and, at the same time, a feeling that, when looking at the past, releases from the personal and collective responsibility towards the present.

The project examines the role of images, both visual and literary, in the construction of collective memory, pointing in the direction that what is sometimes determined as cultural, it is basically a political construction.

The project tears the veil of Alexandrian Cosmopolitan nostalgia, letting other realities to emerge and incorporating them into the social memory of the city. The project was developed during a residence in Gudran (Alexandria).
